Seeking One Other to Share 3br|2ba on Solano St (Radio Hill/Elysian Park)
Posted on: July 22nd, 2022 by Lauren Caproni No Comments

Recently renovated 3br, 2ba flat with formal living room, dining room, kitchen and shared yard. Bedrooms and living room are extremely spacious. I am planning to inhabit one of the bedrooms and furnish the shared guest room. The guest room will also be my studio/office. The roommate will have their own bedroom, bathroom and have creative license in the large living room! I have furnishings for all but your bedroom but I am not attached to using my things. My friend owns the duplex and lives upstairs with her two dogs. We will be landscaping and building an edible garden with an outdoor eating area!

Clean and bright full apartment
Posted on: July 1st, 2022 by Cecilia No Comments

Welcome to my beautiful home!
You are 6 min away from highland park, 5 min away from Silver Lake, and 5 min away from Atwater village. The apartment has a full kitchen, comfy sofa, queen bed, two desks, a spacious bathtub, a AC unit and air purifier. You have free high-speed internet, a balcony and so much light it looks like a yoga studio. The neighborhood is quiet and safe, perfect for morning walks. For parking, it’s street parking but you always find plenty of space and do not need a permit.
We are 2 min away from Super king a wonderful supermarket with a great selection of fresh produce, 5 min away from sprouts, 8 min away from Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. It’s honestly an incredible location.
We are looking to sublet for the whole month of August and possibly September.

Hiking / Beach in Minutes!!! Private Room in Upstairs 2B1B Apartment Share
Posted on: June 24th, 2022 by Andrea Sea No Comments

Seeking My Next Fabulously Compatible Roommate!
Private unfurnished bedroom for rent in 2B1B apartment. The rest of the home is furnished, except there’s room for you to store your kitchen things and bathroom things.

$1150/month + Split Utilities, $1200 Deposit.
Utilities run from $40 to $80 for electricity (higher in winter for heating),
$45 for Spectrum high-speed internet (via ethernet cables to every room ~ faster/more reliable than WiFi),
$4 for super-filtered fluoride-free drinking water.
No gas bill, this apartment is all electric.

No tobacco smokers / drinking / drugs, no pets, one adult only.
LGBTQ friendly, 420 friendly, prefer no alcohol.

LOCATION:
5 minutes to closest hiking trails, 10 minutes to Topanga State Beach and PCH, 12 minutes to Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Ventura Blvd, and 101 Freeway, 15 minutes to Topanga mall or Target or Costco, 20 minutes to Santa Monica, 30 minutes to Venice Beach, and the commute is worth it so you can be grounded in nature in this beautiful canyon. Near good surfing, hiking, mountain-biking, horse-riding.

YOUR ROOM:
Unfurnished Private Bedroom in an upstairs 2 Bedroom 1 Bathroom apartment in a 1960s apartment building. The building is old and worn, but has large rooms, and everything works. Your room is 13 x 10, gets morning sun, and has a view of trees and Topanga Creek, a full-size closet, and an extra linen/storage closet. 146 square feet is counting closet space.
The room will be empty except for a small organizer cabinet and shelves in the closets, an over-door rack of clothes hooks, a curtain rod with burgundy curtain, a space heater, a fan, and an ethernet cable to an internet router with four slots for plugging in to the internet.

COMMON AREAS:
Share bathroom, kitchen, and living/dining-room. The kitchen has a good amount of counter space and a stove and refrigerator. There is now a full-size portable dishwasher!!! There is no microwave oven, and I want to keep it that way. Stove is electric. Built-in oven broke. There is a small programmable oven that can make toast or cook frozen pizzas.
The bathroom has a shower/bathtub combo with shower water filter and a large space heater.
Livingroom/dining area is furnished, except could use a couple more dining chairs (there are only two). Livingroom has an old-fashioned Sony sound system (plays CDs and cassettes) and enough space to do Yoga/Qigong/T’ai Chi. There is no TV in the livingroom and I want to keep it that way (mental hygiene).

CONNECTIVITY:
NO WIFI allowed for health reasons – great for electro-sensitive people! Spectrum for hard-wired high-speed internet – speedtest dot net showed 82 Mbps download on January 5, 2022. There is a daisy-chained router in your room with 4 ethernet slots – one for your computer, and you have 3 more open ethernet slots for internet access, e.g., if a friend visits and wants to plug in their laptop. This is the canyon, so cell reception depends on your carrier and your phone. I have the adapter that will connect an iPhone directly to the internet, and if you have an android phone, I know what adapter to order. I will also help set up a Google Voice account as a backup.
Here is a video showing connecting an iPhone to Ethernet. At about timestamp 1:22 she shows what models of iPhone and iPad this adapter works with.

Lightning to Ethernet Adapter for Apple Devices, with speedtest showing ethernet connection is faster than WiFi:

PARKING – STORAGE – LAUNDRY:
You get one parking spot in the lot (not reserved, first come first serve), and your guests have easy street parking. No street-sweeping parking tickets EVER! There is room for locking a bicycle behind my car in the carport, but not much room for outside storage. This building has NO laundry room because it’s on a septic system. Nearest laundromat is 12 minutes away on Topanga Canyon Blvd just south of Ventura Blvd.

WATER – UTILITIES:
I buy fluoride-free drinking water from House of Living Water or Drinking Water Depot and haul it up the hill. Your share of utilities will be about $35-$80 for electric (summer as low as $35, winter much higher because of heating), $45 for internet, and $4 for drinking water. There is no gas bill, this apartment is all electric.

PATIO DECK – BACK YARD – GARDENING:
There is a patio deck right outside our front door with seating and potted plants. Back yard has a new yoga deck and lovely walkway nightlights and partially-shaded outdoor seating areas near the garden, the creek, the mountain. You’re welcome to claim a spot to do some gardening inside a wire-mesh-enclosed garden that keeps out rabbits and birds.

WEIRD SMELLS:
Chemically sensitive person welcomed. I cannot handle toxic household cleaners, synthetic fragrances, synthetic air fresheners, or any kind of incense, even organic. I’m fine with real Essential Oils and burning small amounts of White Sage and Palo Santo. I need a roommate who does not smoke tobacco ~ I will smell it on your clothes and your breath and get a tox reaction headache. Smoking yummie green leaf in your bedroom or out on the deck is fine, as long as you keep the smoke out of shared spaces. If you like to use heavily-scented bodycare products, we are not going to be a good fit unless they’re all scented with real Essential Oils. If you are not chemically sensitive, you will be shocked at how many soaps and bodycare products and household cleaning products have synthetic / carcinogenic fragrances that cause me a tox reaction and cannot be used here.
Because of my sensitivities, and to prevent mold, I keep the windows open to air out the bathroom and kitchen/livingroom whenever they are not currently being heated, and sleep with all the windows open for fresh air, even in winter when it’s ridiculously cold outside. Of course, you can do whatever you want with the climate in your room. Heater and fan provided.

GUESTS:
I am fine with overnight guests, as long as they’re staying just 1 to 3 nights at a time, and not moving in, and you clean up after them. You are welcome to have guests stay either in your room or on the futon in the livingroom. Please alert them to my chemical sensitivities and ask them not to wear cologne or perfume. If they’re going to be showering here, please offer them your non-toxic soap/shampoo/conditioner to prevent me suffering a tox reaction from their bodycare products. I sometimes have guests stay here too, usually only one night at a time, in the livingroom.

NEIGHBORHOOD:
Topanga town center is 5 minutes away and has cute coffee shops, restaurants, gift shops, (pre-covid, there were also a yoga studio and art studios), live music and open mic nights, plus post office and fairly new library with monthly movie nights. 12 minutes to Woodland Hills or Calabasas, 20 minutes to Santa Monica. Lovely walk up to a lookout point with a bench to sit on and great views of the canyon starts just steps outside the door. Access to hiking/biking trails in Topanga State Park and Red Rock State Park is just 5 minutes away.

LIMITED PUBLIC TRANSIT:
You *must* have a car, truck, or motorcycle to live here because there is no public transportation except the “BEACH BUS” that goes between Santa Monica and Woodland Hills once per hour from 9am to 4pm in beach weather. This place is at 1,000 feet elevation, and it is unsafe to ride a bike up into the canyon after sunset.

Rent is Month-to-Month, with intention of staying at least a few months.

1 BR – 1 Bath rental in beautiful home in Los Angeles County
Posted on: June 7th, 2022 by Herbert Bennett / Marisel Bennett No Comments

Renting a private room & private bathroom in a gorgeous, single-family home. Room has keyed-lock, brand-new carpet, built-in closets, recessed lighting, glass-door shower. House has central air, gourmet kitchen with stainless steel range & fridge, extra storage space, activity area in carpeted garage, beautiful yard, outdoor fireplace, and also comes with kind owners who communicate well.

We are artists (filmmaker, actor, teacher), so we are pretty flexible in the type of roommate or lifestyle we are looking for. Mainly, someone who is also generally easy going, and self-aware, and cleans after themselves. We eat healthy and we love to cook often but do not subscribe to any specific labeling around eating. We have a very kitchen, crammed with tons of cooking gear and gadgets, which you are invited to use. We’ve prepared our yard for a food garden combined with vermicomposting that we will install in the fall. (No, you don’t have to help with that unless you want to:-)

We also have a small Shih Tzu, Reggie, who is quiet, loving, and hypo-allergenic. You may also bring a dog with you as long as they are hypoallergenic, and get along with our guy (that part should be easy).

The house is located in a rare, SUPER quiet neighborhood of Los Angeles County. It’s located very near the 605 and accessible for the 60, 10. & 210. We have a new Express Bus Terminal 3 miles away. You can get to DTLA with only 2 stops!

We are looking for $1,200 rent/mo and $100 for utilities (1Gb internet, Garbage, Water, Electricity, Gas). We may be adding cleaning service and that would be included as well. Security deposit required and proof of income.

More details if you are interested. Ask us anything. *Note: some of the exterior pictures are from before we transformed the yard to be drought tolerant. I just don’t have a drone 🙂

The Nests

I am in the search of the ideal person to experience the lovely space that we created in the jungle.

The house is located in the the jungle, in the outskirts of Tulum, Mexico. A 15 minute drive (8km+ 2km dirt road) from Tulum takes you there. Vehicle is required to live here. An ideal distance to disconnect from town, be in contact with the sound of nature, and close enough to enjoy the benefits of civilization.

Surrounded by nature, and immersed among the trees of the tropical jungle, the house has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Each bedroom has a bathroom. The bathrooms are connected to a water filtration system that cleans the water with the help of plants, roots, fibers and rock. Electric energy comes from solar panels and water from a well.

The house is built in a circular pattern, which makes it very cozy, with good ventilation and energy circulation. The main room is on the second floor with a very pleasant terrace, space to hang the hammock, and a very spacious bathroom / dressing room. The second bedroom is located independently in a bungalow. Large dining room, lots of light and ventilation.

Room for rent in spacious single family home! Pasadena
Posted on: May 26th, 2022 by Amanda No Comments

No couples. No men. No pets. I’m sorry!

Private bedroom, a little on the smaller side but cozy with great windows and lighting. The photos show it furnished but all furniture and decor will be removed before your move in. Big, spacious house fully furnished, with a beautiful back yard with a deck, large storage shed, washer/dryer in unit, and tandem parking in driveway. Can park on street overnight with permit (easily acquired). Shared bathroom, it has two sinks and a large claw foot tub. If you love a bath, this one is epic. Kitchen has all updated appliances. Located on a tree lined street, in North Central Pasadena, walking distance from the Rose Bowl. Very close to the 210 freeway. Easy access to Old Town, Highland Park, Downtown LA, Angeles National Forest, and more! Great location, beautiful area and neighborhood. The pets in photos will no longer be living here. We split the cost of water, trash, gas, electricity, wifi. I’m pretty conservative with water and electric. Would appreciate if you were too!

You would be living with one other person (me). I’m a 28 year old woman. I’m very clean, tidy and enjoy a clutter free home. I teach yoga and meditation full time. I’m in and out of the house often. I teach a couple classes at home via zoom on Monday/ Tuesday, so during those hours the house would need to be quiet. I am mindful, active, self aware, a nature lover and queer! Health and wellness are extremely important to me. I cook regularly and enjoy having company over for dinner parties and game nights. I am playful, goofy and love to have a good time. I deeply enjoy relaxing in my space. I’m not super into partying but occasionally will! My home space is sacred to me, having good energy and communication with my roommate is vital! I would prefer my roommate to be a cool chick who is also mindful, self aware, kind, and considerate. Cleanliness is a must. Will expect roommate to participate in bi weekly deep cleans of common areas. I’m also not a vegetarian or vegan, I cook meat in this house- full disclosure to those sensitive. Will cook you yummy meals on occasion as an added bonus! I love love love house plants, lighting candles and playing music throughout the day. I consider myself really good company and would love to hang out with you! Feel free to check out my Instagram a_mandala.

Peaceful Place in Altadena
Posted on: May 23rd, 2022 by Carrie No Comments

I live in an RV in the foothills of Altadena. It is quite beautiful with a remote wilderness feeling while also not being far from everything. Altadena has it’s own unique laid back vibe; lots of good coffee shops, good hiking spots, and new restaurants opening up.

It is an escape from the hustle and bustle while not being inaccessible should you need it. It’s about 15 minutes from Highland Park and Mt. Washington, about 20 – 25 from Silver Lake, 30 minutes to Hollywood.

You will have a beautiful garden with copious amounts of space but I do have neighbors up the hill. Everyone is cool and we are all respectful and helpful neighbors. My landlord is also onsite up the hill. He is reliable and quick to respond.

I would be looking for someone who is responsible, clean, and friendly. The place is fully furnished. Rent includes all utilities. The RV has central air.
